Wildeck Highlights Importance of Guard Rail in OH&S Feature

Dave Milner, Wildeck’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing, shared his thoughts on the importance of forklift guard rail and other protective barriers in the July / August issue of Occupational Health & Safety, the industry-leading news publication for occupational health and safety professionals focusing on problem-solving solutions, latest news, and products for the industry. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, from 2011 to 2017, 614 workers lost their lives in forklift related accidents and more than 7,000 nonfatal injuries with days away from work occurred every year.

The OH&S story titled: Protective Guard Rail: What It Is and Why you Need It, sheds light on how easy it is to reduce the potential threats associated with forklift traffic, and lower the statistics mentioned above, with a minimal investment in forklift impact barriers.

In the article, Milner identifies not only the importance of having guard rail, but also the importance of choosing a supplier whose product meets or exceeds the industry standard in impact resistance.

“Not all industrial guard rails come with only a 10,000-pound impact rating. Some manufacturers, like Wildeck, build it to a stronger 13,000-pound impact rating. The added value that a higher-rated guard rail brings to a facility is an increased level of safety for people and equipment. Given how close guard rail is typically installed near equipment and machinery, choosing extra heavy-duty barriers could make all the difference in the event of a forklift accident.”

Wildeck’s line of Wilgard® Guard Rail offers some of the strongest impact barriers in the market.
