Vac-Con Celebrates the Holiday Season with Annual Parade
Vac-Con has called the small town of Green Cove Springs, Florida home for more than 35 years. This close-knit, Northeast Florida community is well-known in the region for their holiday festivities – “Christmas on Walnut” - that attract attendees from near and far.
The employee-owners at Vac-Con are active participants in these annual events, which provide an opportunity for them and their families to proudly represent Vac-Con in their local community.
Christmas on Walnut begins with the selection and decorating of one of the Christmas Trees that line the walkways in the city’s Spring Park. This is known as the Parade of Trees, and it welcomes businesses, organizations, and individuals to sponsor a tree to illuminate the park during the holiday season. This year, 160 trees were decorated, including Vac-Con’s penguin themed creation.
The trees are lit at the culmination of the annual nighttime parade the first Saturday in December. The parade is a favorite of Vac-Con employee-owners, as they are encouraged to bring their families to walk or ride alongside the Vac-Con unit. This year, Vac-Con won 3rd place for best decorated vehicle.
Christmas on Walnut ignites the holiday season for the residents of Green Cove as well as the employee-owners at Vac-Con. Visitors can tour the Parade of Trees through January 1st.
