On April 8, 2020 the Associated Industries of Florida (AIF) in partnership with Space Florida and FloridaMakes launched the online database, Connex Florida, in an effort to streamline connections between Florida manufacturers and businesses.
As a manufacturer of essential equipment, Vac-Con is an active member of the database allowing customers and supply chain partners to view the products and capabilities that Vac-Con has to offer.
Connex Florida was established after Hurricane Irma as a disaster risk mitigation effort, but it has found its place among the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Though the database is currently focusing in on manufacturers that can assist with the production of high-demand medical and personal protective equipment supplies, the basis of the program revolves around providing transparency of the state’s manufacturers to their potential customers. Being an active member within the database now can bring value to Vac-Con later down the road if and when natural disasters, such as hurricanes, create a demand for the products that Vac-Con builds.
The database is accessible by government and industry institutions both locally and nationally.
