National Manufacturing Day 2019

This October, Vac-Con participated in annual Manfacturing Day in collaboration with the First Coast Manufacturers Association. This initiative is designed to grow awareness and interest in manufacturing in the local community. Manufacturing Day is a national event that is held annually in October and helps show the reality of modern manufacturing careers by encouraging thousands of companies and educational institutions around the nation to open their doors to students, parents, teachers and community leaders.

Manufacturing Day is recognized at Vac-Con by hosting school tours for area high schools that have specialty programs in trades such as automotive, welding, and engineering. This year, Vac-Con hosted a total of 6 schools and over 150 students between 2 days of tours. "It's crucial that we are communicating and educating our future workforce in the schools now before they make decisions about their education or career path after they graduate," said Blake Brown, VP of Operations. "Manufacturing is alive and well on the First Coast, and we must continue to feed the workforce pipeline to ensure that this lucrative industry is supported in the region."

The Vac-Con Manufacturing Day Tour consists of a thorough walk-through and hands-on experience in each department that plays a part in building the units. Students are exposed to the complete build cycle of the machines, and given the opportunity to experience a heavy manufacturing facility in their own backyards.

"At Vac-Con, we are excited to support FCMA and national Manufacturing Day, and will continue to use these types of initiatives and resources to build upon the manufacturing workforce in our local counties.
