Wildeck Hosts Shoe Drive for Local Veterans

From July 12th to August 18th, Wildeck employee-owners teamed up with local fire departments to hold a shoe drive at its Waukesha, WI headquarters. Throughout the duration of the event, named “Soles for Souls,” new or gently used adult men’s and women’s shoes were collected by employees that will be distributed to local veterans on September 11th.

Soles for Souls was created to honor the 8 EMTs/ Paramedics killed and 343 FDNY firefighters that perished on September 11, 2001. This year is the 20th anniversary of the attack on the World Trade Center, and the campaign’s goal is to collect at least 351 pairs of shoes in remembrance of those that lost their lives that day. Wildeck has worked along with The City of Waukesha Fire Department, along with Waukesha Professional Firefighters Local 407, to help them reach this goal.

On September 11th, representatives from Local 407 will take all shoes to the Wisconsin State Firefighters and EMS Memorial Park in Wisconsin Rapids. After the service, the shoes will be taken to Wisconsin Veterans Home at King; many veterans at King have served our country after their military service as firefighters/EMS.
